Dearching and finding what you are looking for is easy if you are armed with the knowledge how to do it.

The best way to find information is through a virtual search engine.

Most search engines have advanced search options which can come in very handy if you are not skilled with operators when searching.

Search engines explore resources on the Internet and return results related to your query.

Search engines allow keyword searches and use crawlers to find sites or pages that match the query.

A simple query like "web hosting" on Google returns 15,100,000 results. Now how do users know which sites are useful to them, thus creating a kind of "Information Overload". How can users be sure of the quality of the information?

The thing about search engines is that they usually display all web pages that contain one or both of the words contained in the search query.

So the question arises: how do we find the information we are looking for?

There are various techniques you can use to make your search queries better which will then help you achieve more relevant results.

For example if you use the "+" operator and reorder your query to "web hosting" + Windows, it will only show sites that offer Windows hosting. You can also use the Boolean "AND" operator, depending on your convenience.

You can use the "-" and "web hosting" - Linux operator keys thus telling Google to make sure that it doesn't show Linux related hosts. This is the same as using the Boolean operator "NOT".

There are also keywords like ADJ, NEAR etc. which are used by some search engines. The NEAR operator looks for the keywords specified in the query within a certain distance from each other, ie ensures that the keywords "web" & "hosting" are on the same page and placed close to each other in the text.

The ADJ operator is a stricter filter and returns only pages that have contiguous keywords, ie it will only return pages where the keywords "web" and "hosting" are mentioned together.

Another technique to ensure you get better results is to use queries that make sense. Use the words you think will fit on the site you are looking for: "web hosting" is better than "I want web hosting".

Also note that search engines usually ignore certain words like "a '," for "," from "," in "," in ", etc.

Another important thing to remember is that most search engines have 'tips' pages that specifically contain information on how to perform better searches on search engines. It's always great to read these tips.

"The internet is an amazing place full of resources that can really help us"

However, finding information that is relevant to you is a challenge.

Books are magical apparitions - Since her idea of reality was only what fell into her immediate experience she was discounting the possibility of knowing anything outside it. Yet, unless she was willing to acknowledge the possibility of something outside her immediate circle of influence, how could she invite the actuality of the experience. Unless one has a hypothesis, experimentation is not an option.

Here is another example. During a certain period of time, a friend of mine and I, while working and living in similar circumstances, developed a completely different view of reality. During this time, I read books on super-string theory, quantum mechanics, occult phenomena, and strategic thinking. My mind was exploding with the richness of the world that I had uncovered. She, on the other hand, preferred to live within the range of her limited experiences. My life took a quantum leap for the better, hers remained the same.

Since my college days, I have consumed an average of three books a week. My view of the world since those days has expanded so enormously, and my experience of my life and of myself has grown so exponentially that I barely recognize the person I used to be.

In my view, the development of the printing press and the genius of the global brain called the Internet, have been inventions of such massive importance that they have accelerated the development of consciousness to an unbelievable extent.

Books are magical apparitions

In this century, we have experienced more awareness than at any other time in history. Never before have we, as a species, been aware of so much possibility, so much power, and so much diversity. Perhaps, somewhere along the line, there is a distinct possibility that we will even give up our brutality.

Dr. David Hawkins, who uses a unique method to measure the expansion of consciousness using the non-linear dimension, has concluded that at the time of the Buddha, the average consciousness of all of mankind was around 80; during the time of Christ, it was around 100; and during the present day, it is around 200 to 210. To appreciate the enormity of this jump, you have to consider that he uses a logarithmic scale of 0 to 1000, with 1000 being the highest state of measurement on this planet, exemplified by the Christ Consciousness. A rise of well over a 100 points for our species is enormous considering a significant rise in consciousness is about 5 points in a single lifetime.

In Vedantic literature, the highest values are considered to be Jnana and Bhakti. Jnana is knowledge of the absolute; it is recognizing the field of pure potentiality, the quantum soup, from which all manifested things arise. When this Jnana is reached, a state referred to as enlightenment, or satori, or connecting with the Christ Mind predominates; at this point true Bhakti, the unconditional love for all life, emerges.

Thus the pursuit of knowledge, whether exoteric or esoteric, is of supreme value. Exoteric knowledge allows for a greater power in the world of matter. Esoteric knowledge allows for the next step in consciousness, living beyond conditioned thinking in the pristine quality of the moment.

What I find fascinating is the idea that both exoteric knowledge, exemplified by science, and esoteric knowledge, exemplified by mysticism, appear to be reaching a common consensus about the nature of reality, the nature of ourselves, and the purpose of life.

Since we cannot, due to the limitations of time-space, learn through direct experience, we must rely on vicarious experience. In a single book, a man's condensed knowledge can be transmitted to your brain. It took Albert Einstein many years to formulate the Special and the General Theory of Relativity, and behind his breakthrough was the research and the pondering of hundreds of the finest minds. Yet, in a week, given a 200 page book, I can grasp the essentials of what took so long to discover. This is nothing short of miraculous.

Sometimes, I meet people whom I have not spoken to in years. I find that mentally they have as little understanding of themselves and the world around them as when I knew them before. They even have the same problems that they used to have.

One does not have to be an intellectual to read a book; one merely has to be curious. And if our species were not curious, we would still be in the neolithic age.

Books are magical apparitions. Time-bending messages. The wisdom of Socrates or Marcus Aurelius can inform my decisions today in the 21st century. And now with the advent of the Internet, knowledge will expand so rapidly that before the end of this century hover-cars and the scourge of horrific mental and physical maladies will be a thing of the past.

As an adult you pick-up a newspaper, magazine, or any print matter and learn through reading the material something new or maybe a deeper understanding of the topic. This process of reading has become second nature to you, but as a child you had to develop certain tasks.

Learning disability has occurred quite extensive in children. This disorder is known as dyslexia, and it is believe to affect as many as 8 percent the elementary school children. Reading is one of the Big R’s, an ability that is important for success in our daily lives.

As you advance you learned the alphabet, and the sound of the letters. From there you jumped to the sound of words. Of course there was “Miss English” you know the type. Marking up your (what you thought) great English paper with red pencil, and always correcting your English.

In your early years of life you learned to focus your attention on the printed material and in most cases taught to read it from left to right.

Children with Reading Disorders

But this is a process of learning to read and understand sentences. From this to reading books some good, some not so good. Your mind began building ideas and images.

New ideas are compared with old and the way you look at new experiences change your way one thinks. The concepts can be deep thoughts or everyday experiences are stored in your memory.

But children with dyslexia can have problems with any of these tasks. They can have a problem separating the sounds in spoken words. Or they might be unable to simple sound out words, or maybe have trouble rhyming words.

Another problem area the children (or any person with dyslexia) have is to form images. They sometimes are unable to compare what they know with new ideas or concepts.

This can become a major problem as a student moves from simple word definition to learn whole idea comprehension.

Although this learning disability seems to be overwhelming, scientists have made great strides. It is important not to think your child has a learning disability, but he or she must learn their skills in a different way.

There are many Federal, National, and State organizations and associations that are able to help children with learning disabilities. I suggest contacting these services to develop the best program for your child.

The author does not endorse any particular education plan or course of treatment for any child. He encourage parents to consult with educators and other professionals who know the child before determining whether the child has a learning disability and if so how it should be addressed.

In January, 2003, a group of parents sued a Sacramento Unified School District because certain teachers at their local elementary school were aggressively, and secretly, teaching anthroposophy, a religion that combines traditional Western religion with astrology and New Age religion.

Pacific Justice Institute lawyers representing the parents indicated that many other public schools in California are now adding New Age and Eastern religions, including Islam, to their curricula.

In classrooms throughout the country, Judeo-Christian beliefs are often cast aside or ridiculed. Multiculturalism studies, environmental propaganda, and Save-the-Earth classes now indoctrinate children with New-Age religious beliefs, often without parents’ knowledge.

Public schools sometimes try to sneak offensive pagan or new-age religions into their curriculum without parents’ knowledge under the guise of multiculturalism studies.

Below is only a small sample of the flood of “spiritual” sessions taking place in classrooms throughout the country

Anthroposophy is a religion that combines traditional Western Religion with Astrology and New Age Religion

1. Altered states of consciousness:

Teaching students to alter their consciousness through centering exercises, guided imagery, and visualizations has become standard practice in self-esteem, multicultural, and arts programs. They often encourage contact with spirit guides.

2. Dreams and visions:

After studying a pagan myth, students are often asked to imagine or visualize a dream or vision, then describe it in a journal or lesson assignment.

3. Astrology:

Countless teachers across the country require students to document their daily horoscopes. Others help students discover their powers and personalities through Aztec calendars and Chinese.

4. Other forms of divination:

Through palmistry, I Ching, tarot cards and horoscopes, students learn to experience other cultures and tap into secret sources of wisdom. Students in Texas were told to create a vision in their minds and “describe in your best soothsayer tones the details of your vision.”

5. Spiritism:

While pagan myths and crafts show students how to contact ancestral, nature, and other spirits, classroom rituals actually invoke their presence. California third-graders had to alter their consciousness through guided imagery, invoke or “see” their personal animal spirits, write about their experience . . . and create their own magical medicine shields to represent their spirit helper.

6. Magic, spells, and sorcery:

Many parents consider magic and spell-casting too bizarre and alien to pose a threat, yet gullible students from coast to coast are learning the ancient formulas and occult techniques.

Parents, is this what you want your children taught in public schools, the same public schools that are now forbidden from teaching kids the Ten Commandments?

Kids learn to read in their most formative years, which is why reading can profoundly affect their self-esteem. When children learn to read, they also start learning how to think abstractly, because words convey ideas and relationships between ideas. How well they read therefore affects children’s feelings about their ability to learn.

This in turn affects how kids feel about themselves generally whether a child thinks he or she is stupid or bright. Children who struggle with reading often blame themselves and feel ashamed of themselves.

Often, poor readers will struggle just to graduate from high school. They can lose general confidence in themselves, and therefore the confidence to try for college or pursue a career. Their job opportunities can dry up.

Their poor reading skills and low self-confidence can strangle their ability to earn money. They can struggle financially their whole lives. If they marry and have children, they can struggle even more.

Life for illiterate adults can easily degenerate into misery, poverty, failure, and hopelessness. According to a 1992 study by the National Institute for Literacy, “43 f Americans with the lowest literacy skills live in poverty and 70 ave no job or a part-time job. Only 5 f Americans with strong literacy skills live in poverty.”

The ability to read well, is the foundation of children’s education

By the 1850s, before we had compulsory, government-controlled public schools, child and adult literacy rates averaged over 90 percent, making illiteracy rates less than 10 percent. By 1850, literacy rates in Massachusetts and other New England States, for both men and women, was close to 97 percent. This was before Massachusetts created the first compulsory public-school system in America in 1852. What is literacy like in our public schools today?

In 1995, a student teacher for a fifth-grade class in Minneapolis wrote the following letter to the local newspaper: ". . . I was told [that] children are not to be expected to spell the following words correctly: back, big, call, came, can, day, did, dog, down, get, good, if, in, is, it, have, he, home, like, little, man, morning, mother, my, night, off, out, over, people, play, ran, said, saw, she, some, soon, their, them, there, time, two, too, up, us, very, water, we, went, where, when, will, would, etc. Is this nuts?"

In 2002, the New York State Education Department’s annual report on the latest reading and math scores for public school students found:
  • 90 percent of middle schools failed to meet New York State minimum standards for math and English exam scores.
  • 65 percent of elementary schools flunked the minimum standards.
  • 84 percent of high schools failed to meet the minimum state standards.
  • More than half of New York City’s black and hispanic elementary school students failed the state’s English and math exams. About 30 percent of white and asian-american students failed to achieve the minimum English test scores.
  • The results for eighth grade students were even worse. Here, 75 percent of black and hispanic students flunked both the English and the math tests. About 50 percent of white and Asian-American eighth graders failed the tests. These illiteracy rates are now common in public schools across America, not just in New York City.
In short,as shown by the New York State Education Department’s annual report and other studies, student illiteracy rates in many public schools range from 30 to 75 percent. This is an education horror story.

That is what illiteracy can mean, what it does mean for millions of public-school children who can barely read our public school system is the primary cause of this tragic illiteracy, and one reason why these schools are a menace to our children.
